A seriously electronic game

The Breadboard Game project allows young inventors to explore the fascinating world of electronics in a fun and hands-on way.

With this project, curiosity about the world of electronics is brought to life on a board game. With the Breadboard Game, young inventors use “real” conductive wires to deliver energy to the right place!

Through this experience, young inventors have the chance to explore concepts related to breadboards, batteries, LEDs, and conductive wires.

All of this takes place in an inspiring environment that highlights the inventive and creative spirit of young inventors, encouraging teamwork, spontaneity, and curiosity.

AboutInspiring Inventors

Robert Noyce

Robert Noyce

1927-1990

Also known as the “Mayor of Silicon Valley”, he was an American physicist and entrepreneur who co-founded Fairchild Semiconductor in 1957 and Intel Corporation in 1968. He is also known for creating the first monolithic integrated circuit, or microchip, made from silicon — a breakthrough that fuelled the personal computer revolution and gave Silicon Valley its name.In 1987, U.S. President Ronald Reagan awarded him the National Medal of Technology, and in 1989, he was inducted into the U.S. Business Hall of Fame. In 1990, he received a Lifetime Achievement Medal alongside Jack Kilby and John Bardeen.

Concepts Covered

Breadboards and AA battery

  • Breadboards: Breadboards are the foundation for building electrical circuits. They have played a role in some of humanity’s greatest inventions, as engineers, scientists, and inventors use them to create the very first prototypes of their grand ideas.
  • AA Battery: Batteries are like little energy factories that make components work… without them, our circuits wouldn’t come to life. Inside each one is stored energy in chemical form, which is converted into electrical energy when placed in a circuit.

LED and Conductive Wires

  • LED: It transforms electrical energy into light energy. It’s a true superhero, changing the way we light up the world by using less energy and being more affordable than all other types of bulbs and lighting technologies!
  • Condutive Wires: Electrical wires are used to carry electricity from one point to another. They are made of copper, a conductive metal, coated with plastic, often in different colours. The plastic covering allows us to handle the wires without getting an electric shock!

Why this project?

The Breadboard Game project was developed with three main objectives:

  1. Exploring the world of electronics: In this project, young inventors have fun through a board game in an educational experience designed to teach key electronics concepts in an engaging and hands-on way.
  2. Understanding the future connected to these concepts: Through the Breadboard Game, young inventors also come to understand how future inventions may include greater integration of technology into everyday life — such as smart homes and clothing equipped with sensors. The widespread use of LEDs also contributes to a greener, more energy-efficient future.
  3. Encouraging Creativity and an Inventive Spirit: By taking part in this process, young inventors develop skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, and motor coordination.

By the end of the project, young inventors will have gained a deeper understanding of electronics, celebrating their success by building their very own game. This experience proves that when curiosity is guided in the right direction, it can light the way to the future!

Together, let’s switch on the light of creativity!

Challenges for you

Ask your young inventor what excited them most about the lesson – or try out the project together at home. Turn this moment into a fun game for the whole family!

For the boldest inventors, show us your experiments – we’d love to share your Breadboard Game creations on social media. Make this project a memorable adventure for everyone!
